LOT Polish Airlines to source Boeing 787-9s from Virgin Atlantic

LONDON - Virgin Atlantic is set to remove two Boeing 787-9 aircraft from its fleet. The Dreamliners will be transferred to LOT Polish Airlines in 2027. The move is part of a wider fleet reshuffle that will have Virgin Atlantic melt its 787 fleet from 17 to 14 aircraft and put the strategy increasingly towards Airbus A330-900 aircraft.

LOT Polish Airlines sources two Boeing 787-9 aircraft from Virgin Atlantic in the first half of 2027. LOT chief executive Michal Fijol confirmed the transaction saying the airline expected "two additional used 787-9s", according to "DJ's Aviation".

The aircraft will add to LOT’s fleet of eight 787-8s and seven 787-9s.

The specific aircraft involved in the transaction have not yet been identified by either airline.

Virgin Atlantic previously announced to operate 14 Boeing 787-9s alongside 19 Airbus A330-900neos and 12 Airbus A350-1000s in a broader fleet reshuffle.
