Euro 2024 in Germany boosts Stansted to new June record

LONDON - London Stansted passed the rolling 29 million passengers a year milestone for the first time in its history following its busiest ever June on record. Stansted handled 2.8 million passengers in June, an increase of 8.3 percent on the same month last year - and 153,000 more passengers than the previous busiest ever June in 2019.

During the month Stansted also recorded its first ever 100,000 plus passenger days in the month of June, with more than 100,800 passengers passing through the terminal on 28 June.

"In addition to many people heading off for an early summer holiday, the monthly total was also boosted by thousands of football fans heading to Germany to watch their teams compete at Euro 2024", the airport said. "London Stansted serves 10 German destinations, making all the tournament cities very accessible for England fans plus others based in the UK following their teams."

Other top destinations during the month were Dublin, Istanbul and Palma.
