UK to provide aerial refuelling to Saudi Arabia

LONDON - The UK provides limited military support to Saudi Arabia in its conflict with Houthi rebels in Yemen.

Prime Minister Andy Burnham said British tanker aircraft would provide "defensive" aerial refuelling services for Saudi fighter jets. The decision followed an official request from Saudi Arabia.

The move comes amid concerns that the escalating regional crisis in the Middle East could eventually increase financial pressure on British households.

Saudi Arabia has recently come under renewed attack from Houthi militias as tensions have intensified during the wider conflict involving Iran, the US and Israel.

Saudi Arabia supports Yemen's internationally recognised government and leads a military coalition fighting the Houthi. The PA reported first.
