Iran war stalls UK jet fuel supply in the Middle East

LONDON - The UK imports roughly 50 percent of jet fuel from the Middle East. Prolonged closure of the Strait of Hormuz stalls supply - according to a media report the "last known shipment" of jet fuel bound for the UK is expected to arrive before the weekend - airlines might face shortages.

UK aviation faces a potential fallout from the war in Iran. A final consignment of jet fuel from the Middle East is expected to arrive on the vessel "Maetiga", the "Daily Mail" reports based on Kpler and Vortexa data.

Other tankers with jet fuel for the UK are stuck in the Persian Gulf as the Strait of Hormuz remains closed. 

Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz amid US-Israeli strikes, stalling around 20 percent of global oil supply. UK aviation relies heavily on jet fuel imports from the Middle East amid a decline in domestic refining.
