LONDON - Several airports across Europe face disruptions upon a cyber attack on a third-party IT services provider. Heathrow airport expects "delays for departing passengers" and put additional staff on duty to "minimise disruptions".

Several airports across Europe experience IT problems since late Friday. "A third-party supplier providing check-in and boarding systems for several airlines across multiple airports is experiencing a technical issue, which may cause delays for departing passengers," Heathrow airport said.

"The provider is working to resolve the problem quickly." The airport operator asekd passengers "to check your flight status with your airline" before travelling to the airport. "Additional colleagues are available in check-in areas to assist and minimise disruption."

Brussels airport confirmed it was also affected by the issue.
